Frederick “Fred” Rosenberger is a founding Principal of SGR. Fred’s practice focuses on drafting of utility patent applications, foreign and domestic patent prosecution, strategic patent counseling, patent validity and infringement opinions, and patent due diligence.

Fred possesses broad industry and technical experience, with particular expertise in electrical, mechanical and medical device technologies. His research in graduate school included work on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), semiconductor fabrication technologies, and fiber optic systems. Fred also spent time working as a mechanical engineer in industry. After graduate school, he spent 3 years as a research scientist at a biotechnology start-up company developing microfluidic devices and automated diagnostic systems for proteomic and genomic analyses. As an undergraduate, he worked as a co-op engineer for Walker Electronic Silencing, Inc., developing anti-noise technology for vehicle and machine exhaust systems, and as an engineering intern for Holmatro Rescue Tools, a manufacturer of hydraulic equipment.

Prior to his career as a patent practitioner, Fred worked as an examiner at the USPTO, reviewing patent applications in the field of invisible radiation detection, in particular, infrared imaging, medical imaging, and UV detection. As a patent practitioner, Fred has experience prosecuting applications in the fields of semiconductor devices and manufacturing; general mechanical, electrical, and optical devices; automotive systems; solar energy technologies; medical devices and surgical tools; and micro/nanoscale systems.
