The Firm

Founded in December 2015 by a seasoned team of patent attorneys from a large law firm, SGR is not just another patent firm. We are a closely knit team who actually enjoy working with our clients and with each other. We take great pride in our work product and in our clients’ success. Details matter, and we give the same attention to detail in every filing for every client.

At SGR, we measure success by client satisfaction and longevity of relationships. With many of our attorney-client relationships spanning decades, we recognize that success derives from a deep understanding of client needs and technology, as well as the constantly evolving patent process. Our patent attorneys are skilled scientists and engineers who work closely with clients to develop effective patent strategies, build patent portfolios, and successfully navigate the U.S. and international patent prosecution processes.

SGR has extensive experience on both sides of the patent process. Most of our attorneys worked as patent examiners at the USPTO before entering private practice; and all of our attorneys have been working in the patent field for many years. Our attorneys all have advanced technical degrees or have worked in industry. As a result, our clients have the confidence to entrust SGR attorneys with commercially important and legally challenging cases, including those before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Clients also turn to SGR attorneys for assistance when other firms have been unsuccessful in prosecuting their patent applications.

SGR cares about cost, and we appreciate the need to deliver value to our clients. We are constantly looking for ways to streamline our practice, and we are working on integrating new technology to deliver ever better service to our clients at reduced cost.

Animal Welfare Supporters

When not engaged in protecting inventions, SGR attorneys can be found protecting the welfare of rescued animals. We donate time to supporting animal welfare by volunteering at local shelters and fostering homeless animals. And a portion of SGR's profits goes to supporting local animal welfare causes. We invite you to learn more about how we support animal welfare on our individual profile pages.
